CLICKING on it will OPEN up the interactive version if there is only one panorama for that subject or it will take you to a page with multiple panoramas to choose from.  The Basilica of St Josaphat This beautiful Basilica in Milwaukee is worth a visit, meanwhile take a virtual tour to see it for yourself. Here is a Virtual Tour featuring multiple viewpoints (nodes) of Holy Family Church in Dayton, Ohio. This church is staffed by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) and is the only parish in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati where The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and all the Sacraments are celebrated according to the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite exclusively.  Nave, Holy Family Church, Dayton, Ohio I was recently inspired to produce a “tower pano” from the top of the Carew Tower in Cincinnati. The Carew Tower is the only skyscraper in Cincinnati that has an observation deck that is open to the public. The deck is actually on the top of the building with unobstructed views in all directions. Most 360around panos are taken from one viewpoint, this one was from 8 different viewpoints on the observation deck. The most effective “tower panos” are taken on buildings with straight sides so that there is a view straight down to the ground. The end result appears that you are floating high above the building when viewing the pano. The Carew Tower has numerous set backs so that there is no view straight to the ground with the resulting view appearing not quite so high above the building. Another issue is the close proximity of other tall buildings close to the Carew Tower. The creates serious parallax problems when stitching together the images from the different viewpoints, in fact this was one of the more laborious panos I have created necessitating various retouching techniques to get it all to come together. It was a nice creative and technical challenge and I feel that the end result was worth the effort.  The view of Cincinnati from the Carew Tower  Click to see the Little Planets
 Carew Tower Observation Deck Some panos that I took back in 2007 but never made it to the blog until now!  Mt. Airy Forest Treehouse Here are a few panos from the amazing cathedral in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Pulpit - St. Paul Cathedral This post features the Corbett Theater, the “crowning jewel” of the new center. It is the home of the School for the Creative and Performing Arts and Schiel Primary School for Arts Enrichment. It provides K-12 education in the arts and maintains high academic standards as well.  Corbett Theater Union Terminal was originally built as a railroad terminal and opened in 1933. It now houses the Museum Center. The rotunda of this architecturally significant building features the largest half-dome in the western hemishere, 180 feet wide and 106 feet high. East 4th Street Here is a series of panoramas taken deep underground in the lagering cellars that have become popular to visit during the annual Bockfest in Cincinnati by taking the Prohibition Resistance Tour. OLMHT Chapel, pulpit The small building in the foreground, the Painter’s Shack, is about a 1 mile hike up a gravel road from the campus of Thomas Aquinas College. A favorite haunt of the students, it also is a great spot to get a really nice view of the surrounding countryside, especially at sunrise or sunset. San Buenaventura Mission in Ventura, California Here are some panos that I shot over at the beautiful Memorial Hall in Cincinnati. Memorial hall was designed by the famed Cincinnati architecture firm Samuel Hannaford & Sons. Also be sure to check out the pano for the American Classical Music Hall of Fame which has it’s home in Memorial Hall. I shot this image right after the final rehearsal for the evening performance by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra of “Latin Nights” featuring guest conductor Kristjan Jarvi, who is the brother of the orchestra’s Music Director, Paavo Jarvi. The music featured a true master on the Bandonean (South American button accordion), Carel Kraayenhof. Selections were from Ginastera, Piazzolla, and Revueltas. Make sure to visit the Lightborne page to see all 4 panos especially the “Green Corridor.”  Dinosaur backbone! Here is one of two new panoramas that I made of St. Rose Church. The interior was recently repainted so I returned to document the new look. Be sure to visit the St. Rose page to see both panos and find links to the previous tour so that you can compare for yourself the old and the new.  St. Rose Church St. Lawrence Church has an impressive Gothic edifice with three steeples dominating the skyline of Price Hill. The church was dedicated in 1894. I was particularly impressed by the stained glass windows. See some detail pictures of those on the St. Lawrence page in the Prayer Places section.  St. Lawrence Church, nave The people of All Saints Parish wanted to create a building in which the sacred is evident and that is modest and simple yet beautiful. They hired design architect Duncan Stroik, whose firm specializes in ecclesiastical design, to help them achieve their goal. Not only did they succeed in their goal but also have proven “it is still possible to build a beautiful church in an ordinary parish with a limited budget.” See all the panoramas here.
