Here is another “Pano-Portrait” featuring Beaver Bill in his workshop. Bill makes very nice reproduction edge weapons, specifically tomahawks. These are museum quality and fine pieces of art as well as functional tools. He also makes throwing hawks that are in high demand for those who enjoy the sport of tossing tomahawks. I personally have a few of his throwing hawks and highly recommend them to anyone interested in this sport.  I really like this pano-portrait, there is so much to look at here. Be sure to explore both panorama views and all the detail shots that are scattered among them, oh and try to find the 3 hidden “fly-out” tomahawks.

St. Anthony Shrine, historic photo

The historic Chapel of the National Shrine of St. Anthony in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio was consecrated on Thanksgiving Day 1889, a little more than a year after the cornerstone was laid. This tour has several high resolution panoramas with numerous feature detail photos. There are also some historic photos showing the chapel with the paint decorating as applied by the artist Johann Schmitt. He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis for over 35 years. Having an obvious devotion to St. Francis, Schmitt left a legacy of interesting paintings of St. Francis in several American churches. All the murals were painted over or removed in 1978.

Originally serving as a monastery and a house for novitiates, today the Shrine serves as the candidate house for those considering entering the Franciscan Order.

The Playhouse, located in Eden Park, is dedicated to providing the finest in professional theater. It is one of America’s first regional theaters started in 1959 with the dream of Gerald Covell, a college student. In 2004 the Playhouse won the Regional Theatre Tony Award.

Palm Court at The Hilton Cincinnati

The Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza Hotel is a nice example of French Art-Deco architecture. Much of the decorative work was created in France several years before construction of the building and exhibited at the 1925 Exhibition of Decorative Art in Paris. The three panoramas included in this tour feature the Palm Court area which contain Orchids Restaurant and a Bar. Also the Grand Staircase featuring the Apollo Gallery and a beautiful chandelier. Painted on the ceiling is a compass-rose pointing due north an is surrounded by 24 gazelles representing the hours of the day.

For the 2012 Cincinnati Business Courier Book of Lists cover photo, I needed to create a high resolution photograph from the Carew Tower Observation Deck. This was a close approximation of the viewpoint I used for an earlier “tower pano” that I produced for my website. A higher resolution image was needed to accommodate the large format layout of the book. This year’s Book of Lists includes the top 25 Cincinnati Landmarks as determined from a survey the Business Courier conducted. The original panorama I produced from the observation deck is used here as a starting point to experience panoramas from some of those landmarks. These are from existing panoramas I had earlier created or from new ones made just for this tour. I do not have all the landmarks represented here, but will add to this tour as conditions and time allows. So check back on occasion to see new tours as they are added.

The Procter and Gamble Company, founded in 1837, was ranked by “Fortune” magazine in 2011 at 5th place in the “World’s Most Admired Companies” list. It manufactures a wide range of consumer goods in facilities around the world.

During a whirlwind 2 hours in downtown Chi-town, I managed to grab a couple of pano views including Pioneer Court and the much maligned and vandalized Marilyn Monroe statue.

The Emery Auditorium was the home for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra from 1912 until 1936 when they moved to Music Hall. The Emery Auditorium was the home for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra from 1912 until 1936 when they moved to Music Hall. The acoustics of the auditorium has been compared to Carnegie Hall in NYC by the famous conductor Leopold Stokowski. Many world famous performing artists have appeared here. The Emery has been neglected for many years but there is an effort currently underway to restore and renovate this great theater.
